Michael Prevec, LAc, EAMP, LMP
For many years, I worked in various jobs without much direction.  From being a chef, computer technician, or property manager I did my job well, but I always wanted something more from my work.  I realized that I needed a career that would give me more satisfaction than a pay check.  In 2003, after many months of thought, I decided to go to massage school.  At the time I had seriously thought about going to acupuncture school; However, I wasn’t sure I could commit to that much schooling.  I knew that it would take me at least 2½ years of undergraduate college and then 3 years at acupuncture school before I was finished.  Massage school seemed to be a great first step into the healing arts and a perfect segue into acupuncture.  In 2004, I graduated from East West College of Healing Arts as a massage therapist.  I discovered that working in a healing profession was exactly what I needed to do.  The work gave me a great satisfaction that was missing from my life.

In 2005 I was involved in a serious motor vehicle accident, which kept me out of work for several months.  Over the course of 18 months I received many different treatments including; acupuncture, chiropractic, massage, cranial osteopathy, & physical therapy.  Although all these treatments were instrumental in helping me to heal, the acupuncture treatment I received really resonated with me.  The philosophy behind Asian Medicine works in a holistic way, which allows for a patient to heal themselves.  As I recovered from my injuries, I was able to spend time thinking about what I wanted to do.  Although I love massage, I believed that I had more to give to the healing profession.  Asian Medicine seemed like the obvious direction for me to take and In 2008 I started the Masters Degree program at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine.  The Oriental Medicine program has been one of the most challenging things I have ever experienced.  The wealth of knowledge in this medicine is absolutely amazing, and I know I will spend the rest of my life learning to be a better healer.  I graduated on September 2nd, 2011, and have set up my acupuncture practice in conjunction with my massage practice.
